The NLCA publishes two sets of dashboards; one set are supplementary resources to accompany the State of the Nation Report and the other set form the basis of our Quarterly Report.
The State of the Nation dashboards enable users to explore results for individual NHS providers in England and Wales. The Quarterly Report dashboard does not cover NHS providers for Wales as currently we only receive data on a quarterly basis for England.
We publish the following three dashboards to accompany our State of the Nation report, all of which are updated annually. The dashboards describe the care of people diagnosed between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2023 (Q1 2023 – Q4 2023).
- The State of the Nation performance indicator dashboard provides a national perspective on the patterns of lung cancer care across England and Wales. It presents performance indicators published in our State of the Nation report, to support the work of NHS England, Welsh Government, integrated care boards (ICBs), cancer alliances, NHS trusts and Health Boards in Wales.
- The State of the Nation data quality dashboard provides a local perspective on the completeness of data available on people with lung cancer at individual NHS organisations and highlights areas where improvements are needed. Good quality data is essential for the audit to produce reliable and robust information.
- The State of the Nation patient characteristics dashboard provides information about the patient case-mix at each NHS organisation that treats patients with lung cancer, to provide context for interpreting the performance indicators and for understanding the size of specific patient subgroups.
The quarterly report dashboard describes patterns of lung cancer care over time. It presents performance indicators for a 3-year time period and currently reports information spanning Q3 2021 – Q2 2024 (1st July 2021 – 30th June 2024) for NHS trusts in England. It will be updated every three months. Performance indicators were selected from the 2025 State of the Nation report. The primary audience is NHS trusts; the dashboard supports them to track progress over time and (for example) assess the impact of local quality improvement activities.
